✉️ How Reorder Reminders Work

Written by Miles

Reorder reminders are the heart of Easy Reorder. Instead of waiting for customers to remember to come back, you proactively email them around the time they're likely to run out of a product.

Here's how the system works, from a high level.

🔄 The basic idea

For every product in your store, you set a reminder interval — for example, "remind 30 days after purchase." When a customer buys that product, Easy Reorder schedules a reminder email to go out at the right time.

When the day comes, your customer gets a friendly email saying something like:

"Running low on [Product Name]? Reorder in one click."

They click the link, land on their personalized reorder page (or product page), and check out — without needing to log in.

📧 Email sequences (E1–E5)

You can send up to 5 reminder emails per product, in sequence. Each one has a preset role:

  • E1 — First reminder

  • E2 — Follow-up

  • E3 — Re-engagement

  • E4 — Final notice

  • E5 — Last chance

You decide how many days after the purchase each one sends, and you can enable or disable each sequence independently.

📦 Smart bundling

If a customer has multiple products due for reminders around the same time, Easy Reorder bundles them into a single email instead of sending separate emails per product. This keeps your customers' inboxes calm and your sender reputation healthy.

⏱️ Minimum gap between emails

To make sure customers never get blasted, Easy Reorder enforces a minimum gap between any two reminder emails to the same customer (default: 14 days). Even if multiple products are due, the system waits before sending the next email.

🚫 Subscriptions are automatically skipped

If a customer bought a product through a subscription app (Recharge, Loop, Bold, Skio, etc.), Easy Reorder automatically skips it — your subscription provider handles those reminders, and we don't want to compete with their renewal emails.

You don't need to configure anything for this. It just works.

🏷️ Excluded customers

You can exclude specific customers from all reminder emails by tagging them in Shopify (e.g., no-emails, wholesale, vip). Useful for B2B customers, opted-out shoppers, or anyone you'd rather email manually.

📊 What gets tracked

Every reminder email tracks:

  • Delivered — confirmed by the email provider

  • 👀 Opened — when the customer first opens the email

  • 🖱️ Clicked — when they click a link in the email

  • 🛒 Converted — when they place an order within 7 days

You can see all of this on the Reminders overview page in your dashboard.

💡 Where to go next

  • Set reminder timing for each product — learn how to configure per-product reminders

  • Customize your reminder emails — design the email templates your customers receive

  • Exclude customers from reminders — set up your excluded tags
