Reorder reminders are the heart of Easy Reorder. Instead of waiting for customers to remember to come back, you proactively email them around the time they're likely to run out of a product.
Everything lives on one page: Emails in the Easy Reorder menu (it used to be called Reminders). Here's how it works, from a high level.
🔄 The basic idea
For every product in your store, there's a reminder interval, for example "remind 30 days after purchase." When a customer buys that product, Easy Reorder schedules a reminder email for the right time.
When the day comes, your customer gets a friendly email saying something like:
"Running low on [Product Name]? Reorder in one click."
They click the button, land on their personal reorder link (formerly called magic links), and check out without needing to log in.
🔌 Turn emails on
Emails are off when you install the app. To start sending:
In the Easy Reorder app, click Emails
On the Overview tab, switch on Send reorder emails
That switch is the only on/off for reorder emails. Turn it off any time and nothing sends; your emails stay saved.
First time? If you haven't made any emails yet, Easy Reorder adds two for you: the first goes out 30 days after purchase, and the second 7 days after that if the customer hasn't ordered. It also sets your minimum gap between emails to 7 days, so the second one isn't held back. You can change all of this later.
Already have orders? Reminders are only scheduled for future dates. Any reminder that was already past due when you turned emails on is held rather than sent, so nobody gets a flood of emails on day one. To schedule reminders for older orders, click Backfill reminders on the Overview tab and choose how far back to scan (30, 60, 90 or 180 days).
At least one email must be Active, or nothing will be scheduled. If that happens, the page shows a warning.
📧 Email sequences (E1–E5)
You can send up to 5 reminder emails per customer, in order. Go to Emails → Sequence to see them.
E1 is the first reminder, sent a set number of days after the purchase
E2 to E5 are follow-ups. Each one sends a set number of days after the previous email, and only if the customer hasn't ordered
Each email is Active or Draft. Only Active emails are sent
Click + Add follow-up email to add the next one
Each email starts with its own wording (first reminder, follow-up, re-engagement, final notice, last chance), and you can edit all of it. See Customize your reminder emails.
👥 Who gets reorder emails
By default, every customer gets reminders automatically, on the dates Easy Reorder works out. If you'd rather let customers choose their own reminder date, you can add a small date picker to your Thank you and Order status pages. See Who gets reorder emails for the three options.
⏱️ How timing is decided
For each product, Easy Reorder uses the first rule that applies:
The variant has its own days
The product has its own days
Otherwise, the days on your first email
You set product and variant days on the Products page. See Set reminder timing for each product.
📦 Out of stock? The reminder waits
Before a reminder goes out, Easy Reorder checks that the exact variant the customer bought (the size, flavor or color) is in stock. If it isn't, the reminder waits instead of sending customers to a product they can't buy.
On Emails → Queued the reminder shows as Waiting for stock (since {date})
It sends once that variant is back in stock
If it's still out of stock after 14 days, the reminder is skipped and shows as Out of stock
Products you keep selling when they're out of stock (and products that don't track inventory) count as in stock, so their reminders aren't held.
📦 Smart bundling
If a customer has several products due around the same time, Easy Reorder puts them in a single email instead of sending one per product. The Bundle window (7 days unless you change it) controls how close together products need to be due.
⏱️ Minimum gap between emails
To make sure customers never get blasted, Easy Reorder keeps a minimum gap between any two reminder emails to the same customer. It's called Minimum days between emails and is usually 14 days (7 if Easy Reorder set up your first two emails when you turned emails on). A date a customer picked on your Thank you page isn't held back by this gap.
You can change both settings under Emails → Settings → Sending rules.
🙅 Customers who opt out
Every reminder email has an Unsubscribe link at the bottom, and you can't remove it. A customer who unsubscribes, marks a reminder as spam, or whose address bounces for good is never emailed again. Their reminders show as skipped (unsubscribed).
There's no list of opted-out customers in the app
The opt-out list is kept if you uninstall, so someone who unsubscribed stays unsubscribed if you reinstall
🚫 Subscriptions are automatically skipped
If a customer bought a product through a subscription app (Recharge, Loop, Skio, Appstle, etc.), Easy Reorder automatically skips it. Your subscription provider handles those reminders, and we don't want to compete with their renewal emails. See Easy Reorder works with your subscription app.
You don't need to configure anything for this. It just works.
🏷️ Excluded customers and products
You can leave out specific customers by tagging them in Shopify (for example wholesale, vip or no-emails), and specific products by tagging them too. Both lists are under Emails → Settings → Sending rules. See Exclude customers from reminder emails.
📊 What gets tracked
Every reminder email tracks:
✅ Sent
👀 Opened: when the customer opens the email
🖱️ Clicked: when they click a link in the email
🛒 Led to an order: when they order within 14 days of opening or clicking
You can see all of this in two places:
Emails → Overview shows emails sent, reorders driven and revenue driven for the last 30 days, plus how many emails are coming up in the next 7 days
Emails → Activity log shows every email, and you can filter it by Sent, Opened, Clicked and more
Want to see what's about to go out? The Queued tab lists upcoming, held, sent, cancelled and skipped reminders. Held and skipped rows show the reason, such as Waiting for stock or Out of stock.
