πŸ›’ Add the Recent Order Widget to Your Storefront

Written by Miles

The Recent Order Widget is a smaller, more compact version of the Reorder Page that you can drop anywhere in your theme β€” homepage, account page, product page, or even your cart drawer.

It's a great way to remind logged-in shoppers about products they've recently bought, without sending them to a dedicated reorder URL.

✨ What it shows

The widget displays 3–6 items from the customer's most recent order, each with:

  • Product image and title

  • Variant selector (optional)

  • Add-to-cart button (optional)

It only renders for shoppers who are already logged into Shopify β€” so it stays invisible for guest visitors and won't clutter your storefront for first-time browsers.

πŸ› οΈ How to add the widget

  1. From your Shopify Admin, go to Online Store > Themes

  2. Click "Customize" on your active theme

  3. Open the page where you want the widget to appear (e.g., your homepage, customer account page, or any other section)

  4. In the left-hand panel, click "Add section" (or "Add block", depending on your theme and location)

  5. Look under Apps and select "Recent Order Widget"

  6. Position the section where you want it on the page

  7. Click "Save" in the top right corner

🎨 Customization options

You can customize the widget directly from the theme editor:

  • Title β€” set your own heading (e.g., "Buy it again", "Restock favorites")

  • Layout β€” choose between a grid or a carousel

  • Items per row β€” anywhere from 1 to 6

  • Add-to-cart button β€” toggle on or off

  • Variant selector β€” toggle on or off

πŸ’‘ Where to use it

Some popular placements:

  • 🏠 Homepage β€” front and center for returning customers

  • πŸ‘€ Account page β€” right where customers manage their orders

  • πŸ›οΈ Product pages β€” encourage replenishment alongside browsing

  • πŸ›’ Cart drawer β€” bring back forgotten essentials at checkout

⚠️ Note

The widget only displays for customers who are logged into their Shopify account. For guests, it stays hidden β€” they won't see an empty widget or login prompt. If you want guest customers to be able to reorder too, point them to your full Reorder Page or use Magic Links.
