Your customers trust you with their data, and we take that seriously. Here's a plain-English overview of how Easy Reorder handles it.
🏪 What data does Easy Reorder use?
To run the reorder page and your emails, Easy Reorder works with:
📦 Order data: what customers bought, when, and the order details
👤 Customer data: name, email address and tags
🛒 Product data: your product catalog
📊 Email engagement: whether the emails we send for you were opened, clicked, or led to an order
🚫 Email opt-outs: the addresses of people who unsubscribed from your reorder emails, marked one as spam, or whose address bounced, so they're never emailed again
🔐 How your data is kept apart
Everything Easy Reorder stores is tied to a single shop. Your customers, orders, settings and email history can't be seen by another store. This is enforced on every request.
📧 What about email tracking?
For the emails Easy Reorder sends for you, we record:
✅ Whether it was opened
✅ Whether links were clicked
✅ Whether the customer placed an order afterward
You see this in Emails and Analytics. It's standard email tracking, and it helps you see what's working.
🗑️ When a customer asks for their data
Shopify sends two kinds of privacy requests to apps. Here's what happens with each.
Customer erasure. When a customer asks to be erased, Easy Reorder deletes that customer's orders, reminders and predictions. This is automatic. You don't need to do anything.
Customer data request. If a customer asks to see the data held about them, Shopify sends us the request and Easy Reorder compiles that customer's data for you. We email it to the store owner's email address, with a summary of what we hold and a JSON file with everything Easy Reorder stores about that customer (such as their orders, reminders, email history and reorder predictions). Internal sign-in links and tokens are left out. A copy goes to our support team too. You then forward the email and file to the customer, because Easy Reorder doesn't contact customers itself. If we can't find the store owner's email, the email comes to our support team and we pass it to you. You don't need to do anything to start this.
Store erasure. When you uninstall, Shopify sends us an erasure request for your store 48 hours later, and everything for your store is deleted. See Uninstalling Easy Reorder for what happens in the meantime.
🚫 The opt-out list
Every reorder email has an Unsubscribe link that you can't remove. When a customer unsubscribes, marks a reminder as spam, or their address hard-bounces, Easy Reorder never emails them again. There's no screen in the app that lists these customers. Unlike most of your data, this list is not deleted when you uninstall, so someone who unsubscribed stays unsubscribed if you reinstall. It goes when Shopify's store erasure request arrives 48 hours later.
💳 What we never see
Payment card details. Shopify handles all payments.
Customer passwords.
Data from other stores.
🤝 What to tell your customers
Make sure your privacy policy mentions that you use a service like Easy Reorder to send reorder emails and analyze repeat purchases. Many privacy policy templates already cover this. If yours doesn't, you could add a line like:
"We may use third-party services to send reorder reminders and analyze repeat purchase behavior. These services have access to your order history, email address, and engagement data, but not your payment information."
If you sell where marketing emails need explicit consent (the EU, for example), make sure customers have opted in before they're emailed.
